Last night we worked on ground movement and taking the opponents base to off balance them and gain control of the situation. The key was not a set of particular movements, it was understanding how to release/relax your body into the space needed to disrupt the balance of your attacker with gravity.
The closest analogy to the principle of this movement is a young child who doesn’t want to be picked up.
The ability to grasp this concept and to use it has far reaching implications; it doesn’t just apply to the ground but every situation you find yourself in. It allows you to be fully aware of the moment, what is happening, and what is the most appropriate response for your safety and happiness.
Being able to completely relax and connect with gravity, a force of nature, we can connect to the currents of the world around us. By connecting we find the currents or pathways to a safe and positive outcome for ourselves.
